Papyrus swamp in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary at the border of the Kibale Forest National Park. Papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) was already known in the ancient Egypt and processed to paper. Nowadays the plants are still versatile used by the rural populations. Additionally papyrus has an important ecological role. The plant produces a lot of oxygen and their roots filters efficiently the soil.
